Our Purpose

We're a group of scientists working in the field of Regenerative Medicine who come from divergent backgrounds with different areas of expertise.  All of us are also in engaged in science communication and enjoy talking about advances in our field.  We hope that others might find our thoughts of interest and decided to put them out there for others to, hopefully, enjoy.

Our Team

This is brought to you by these awesome people

Host

Anastasiya Gorkun-Roeder
Ann's PhD in Pathophysiology and Cell Biology and Masters in Physiology, Developmental Biology, and Embryology from Lomonosov Moscow State University help make her the nucleus of the Fun with Cells team.  Her work in regenerative medicine focuses on 3D tissue systems, especially skin organoids and bioprinted skin to better understand tissue regeneration and wound healing.

Host

Brendyn Miller
Originally a mechanical engineer, he then shifted into Biomedical Engineering for his Masters from Florida Institute of Technology and Bioengineering for his PhD from Clemson University.  Much of his work in regenerative medicine focuses on building bioreactors which are systems to grow cells in an environment closer to their natural environment.  As a new father he has recently developed an interest in whether regenerative medicine can help with sleep deprivation.

Host

Brent "EvilPenguin" Roeder
With a Masters in Neuroimaging and Informatics from the University of Southern California and a PhD in Neuroscience from Wake Forest University, most of his research has been related to memory and restoring memory function that has been impaired by disease or injury.  In regenerative medicine he uses electrophysiology to help evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.  In other words, he uses electrodes to get on other people's nerves.

As the one building the website he thinks he can also get away with these jokes.
